WHY BAN PIRACY?
Today, in the world of professional audio production, there is a gross injustice taking place. Over 50% of studios and production facilities are using stolen software, and profiting from it. Meanwhile, honest users purchase their software, investing their hard-earned money, and are forced to compete with thieves.
Additionally, developers put a tremendous amount of research and engineering effort into every digital audio product they create. If this kind of abuse continues, developers will be run out of business. And that means no more innovation, and no more new audio software. In fact, many small developers have already gone under.
It isn’t fair, it isn’t right, and it isn’t legal.
WHO USES ILLEGAL SOFTWARE?
The industry has a serious problem.
Based on our extensive research over several years, we have learned that over 50% of all commercial studios are using stolen or “pirated” software, unlicensed content, and “cracked” applications. In some regions of the world the number is over 80%.
BanPiracy focuses its investigations on those individuals and companies who make a profit using illegal audio software. While we do not condone the use of pirated software by anyone, we are committed to elimination of piracy in professional environments.
HOW CAN WE STOP THEM?
BanPiracy handles each case on an individual basis. Our activities include investigation, litigation, and prosecution to the fullest extent of the law.
Research indicates that the average professional is unaware of the financial and criminal liability incurred when they are caught using cracked software.
Our legal and effective methods have exposed hundreds and hundreds of instances of illegal intellectual property use. |
